Keep your cheese platter local with a delivery from Robe Dairy. Recently reopened, this outlet produces farmhouse cheese, milk and yoghurt, including camembert, brie and a blue ‘Robefort.’

Fresh produce

You can pick up something local and delicious at the weekly Farmer’s Market in Mount Gambier. All produce has travelled less than 200 kilometres to reach this market, which is held every Saturday morning at 9am at Cave Gardens near the library. You’ll find organic fruit, freshly made cider and jam, and lots of other delicious treats to take home for Christmas.

Something to drink…

If you want to enjoy a local drop with your Christmas dinner, Mount Gambier has a selection of wineries and cellar doors, most of which are family-owned businesses. According to southaustralia.com, the Mount Gambier wine region’s red specialties are Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Its whites include Chardonnay, Riesling, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc.

Seek out your favourite by visiting a few different local wineries or ask your local bottle shop for what’s in stock that’s locally produced. 

If you prefer a beer on Christmas day, Loophole Brewing is a brewery that’s close to Mount Gambier. Stock up for Chrissie with a six-pack of Quick Hare Cape Ale, Sly Fox DryPA or another locally brewed creation. Loophole delivers their beer, or you can visit the premises. Coffee to finish 

Brasil Specialty Coffee is a locally run family coffee supplier, with coffee that is roasted in Mount Gambier. The owner Marcos is from Brazil and is very strict about the coffee beans he sources. Shop online or buy a gift card for a friend.

To go with your coffee, choose some gourmet confectionery from Dickins Delights, which produces Australian and International award-winning gluten-free, butter toffees, sauces and jams.
