Take a stroll

Mount Gambier and the Limestone Coast have more unique places to walk and hike than can be listed. Whether you head out of town to hike the Blue Lake Circuit or the Crater Lakes Trail, stay in town and walk the Railway Trail or head to a local park for a run, you can’t go wrong.

Hit the tracks

Almost anywhere that you can walk or hike, you can also run. For extra motivation, why not join the Mount Gambier Parkrun? It’s a free five-kilometre run at 8 am every Saturday. All skill levels are welcome; just show up to Blue Lake Reserve.

Get on your bike

Cycling is another excellent way to get fit and enjoy the great outdoors. Find a local cycling route or join the Mount Gambier Cycling Club. You'll improve your fitness before you know it.

While fantastic swimming is to be found at incredible locations like Little Blue Lake, the one thing that all Mount Gambier residents know is still missing in town is an indoor aquatic centre.

The good news is The Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre at Olympic Park on Margaret Street is taking shape. There may have been delays due to COVID-19, but work is back on, and the centre is busy with construction and workers. The latest updates say that the cafe is coming together, and acoustic treatments are almost done. There’s no concrete timeline for the doors to open yet, but before too long, Mount Gambians will be able to add swimming laps at the Aquatic Centre to the list of fantastic ways to get fit on the Limestone Coast.
