Located approximately 25 kilometres from Mount Gambier and is the south of the Wattle Range Council area. Depending which route you take; it’s approximately 35 kilometres south of Millicent along the Princes Highway, 65 kilometres southwest of Penola and 68 kilometres south of Beachport, via Millicent.
Glencoe’s known for its pine tree plantations, with local industries including a large number of paper production mills and sawmills; with these being the main production in the town along with cattle farming and dairy farms.
Boasting a number of old woolsheds, these have now been turned into museums showcasing some artefacts and original shearing techniques. The Glencoe Woolshed is worth a visit to gain insight into the historic nature of farming and wool production.
A yearly attraction to the town is visiting the Ghost Mushroom Lane after dark during May and June to experience the glow of the mushroom.
The local general store has much to offer, local primary school and a strong sporting community are attractions for Glencoe.
